You have inspired me. I think I am just going to have to make a thrift shop run tomorrow myself! So much for my resolve to stay home and work all day!

By the way, when we first took Josefina's hair out of the braid, the hair was very uneven at the ends. We asked about it at the store and they said that the hair is uneven because of the way it is braided and then trimmed after braiding initially. Also, I was told that Josefina's hair would need more "spritzing" as I was working with it because it is more textured - but then maybe you knew that already.

Now I hope I can sleep - heehee. I will probably lay awake planning my itinerary for tomorrow!

    That is so exciting!

Once my DD-- who was 4 at the time--found Kirsten for $2.31 at a thrift store. She was trembling. I had told her before that she had to be old enough to read before she could have an AG. We had bitty baby and believe me DD studied the catalogs when we got them. Poor thing really thought I wouldn't let her get the doll! I told her for $2.31 Mommy would make an exception. Besides poor Kirsten needed someone to take care of her as my DD pointed out. She couldn't believe another little girl would let Kirsten's hair and clothes get so messy! My DD is now 8 and that Kirsten is still very special to her!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No I didn't know about her hair and Homemommie told me to wet it and I used sleek and shine and it still took me over 2 hours and a brushful of hair later, it's back in a braid but I know the AGH can make her look like new again. Thank you for your post.

WOW!!! A great find! Maybe since Christmas is over the old toys move out.

A few days ago my Granddaughter and I stopped by a Goodwill and I couldn't believe it a Bitty Baby with brown hair and eyes with retired sleeper in good shape for...ready $.50!

My granddaughter has been wanting one so badly she held the BB tightly until we paid for her. The whole ride home all she said was I can't believe I found a Bitty Baby, I just can't believe! After we got home we cleaned up the BB and she looks new.

This is the first time I have seen an AG doll in any of those stores by me, have found book, a few pieces of clothing. When we took it to the register the lady working said hey this is an American girl doll...so this one slipped out on the floor!

That is so brilliant!!! I had a good find once too. I went into our local thrift store and picked up a Care Bear monkey for 50 cents. I got home and showed my husband who laughed at me because it was rather ugly. Then I went online and discovered that he was super rare and I ended up selling him for $200 US which was great becauase I was a SAHM (stay at home mum) and money wasn't exactly flowing around our parts at that time. I donated a little bit of cash to the thrift store and gave them a bag of toys.

Congrats on Josefina! I'm still determined to find an AG at a thrift shop again or die trying!

    The Care Bear monkey.....

    OMG

I collected Care Bears and that thing is the holy grail! I got a NWT Grams Bear and I thought I was lucky.
